Torbay - A Century

The story of Torbay's three towns - Torquay, Paighnton and Brixham - is vividly told in this new history by John Pike and Mike Thompson. Rarely before has the heritage of these three communities been considered together in single volume.
The narrative is backed with incident - smuggling expeditions, wartime exploits, landslips, royal visits are recalled. Also included is a detailed chronology of Torbay's history and an invaluable appendix explaining the derivation of Torbay place-names. John Pike and Mike Thompson's meticulously researched and finely illustrated account of the combined history of Torquay, Paignton and Brixham will be the standard introduction to the subject for years to come.
