The Liverpool Collection
Liverpool is one of the truly great names in football, the Reds’ history studded with great players, great matches, great events. Formed in March 1892 by disaffected members of none other than Everton – whisper it gently but Anfield was once their home – two years later the club set the standard for future generations by storming to the Second Division title.
Before World War One, Liverpool had twice been crowned champions of English football, a feat they repeated in consecutive seasons in the 1920s. The first season after World War Two saw another League title, and two more came in the 1960s when legendary manager Bill Shankly was embarking on a remarkable era. Now Liverpool were on the brink of a staggering run of successes – 11 League championships up to 1990 – and so it went on: thrice European champions, five FA Cup Final victories to 1992, two UEFA Cup Final wins, and four successive League Cup Final triumphs.
The Liverpool Collection covers all these great eras, with over 150 fascinating photographs of the players and the matches combining to produce a collection that will stir memories and will be a wonderful record of the greatest days in the history of this great club.
