Scott Cheshire, who was born in Chelsea in 1927, saw his first game at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day 1933 when his father, a season-ticket holder, took him to see the game against Sunderland which Chelsea won 4-0. From that day he has followed the club's fortunes and has been contributing to the Official Programme since 1972. He has written several books on the club, including 'Chelsea The Illustrated History' for Breedon. As a player, he represented Oxford University in the first Varsity Match to be staged at Wembley, in March 1953, and was subsequently Master in Charge of Football at Repton School from 1959 to 1967. Later he was a part-time lecturer at a college in Stafford and played League cricket until the mid-1980s.
