For almost 20 years, Simon Jenkins has been writing about pubs and beer for the Yorkshire Evening Post. In the meantime he has held down a number of different roles on the paper from restaurant, TV and theatre critic to sub-editor and page designer.
At various times he has also written for the Goole Chronicle, Selby Times, the Leeds United Newspaper, Halifax Evening Courier and Yorkshire Post.
In 2006, Simon joined the press office at the University of Leeds, but continues to contribute his Taverner column to the YEP every Thursday.
Over the past 15 years, Simon has won numerous awards from the British Guild of Beer Writers, including their highest accolade, British Beer Writer of the Year, in 2010.
Simon lives in north Leeds with his wife and teenage children.
