Mike Hill was born in Liverpool in 1970. He graduated from Liverpool John Moores University in 1993.
He started his journalistic career at the Southport Visiter as a trainee reporter and after qualifying as a senior joined the Lancashire Evening Post.
Mike was named North West daily news journalist of the year in 1996 and was three times runner up for the same award. He was also runner up as the UK’s daily news journalist of the year in 1997.
In 1999 he joined the Liverpool Echo as a news reporter and the following year was commended for scoop of the year at the UK Press Gazette Awards for his work on the Alder Hey organs scandal.
He is a former news editor of the Liverpool Daily Post and rejoined the Lancashire Evening Post as assistant editor in 2003. He has been the newspaper’s deputy editor since 2006.
