Macclesfield Town: The League Story So Far - Signed Copy

Signed by Author, Geoffrey Knights

Macclesfield Town won promotion to the Football League in 1997 on the second attempt and have enjoyed continuous membership at this level for the past 12 years. Their trials, tribulations and triumphs are narrated with emphasis on events on the field of play, although the more dramatic off the field happenings have been included.
Competing as one of the smallest clubs has not always been easy, but there have been many inspired moments with a single season in the former Nationwide Second Division, victories over higher league opposition in Cup competitions, Play-off semi-finalists one season and as losing Northern Area Finalists in the Football League Trophy.
Over the years there have been brilliant individual performances. Many younger players have developed their skills at the club with some moving on to play in a higher level whilst more experienced players have become legends in their own time.
This book has been written by a fan for the fans as a record of Macclesfield Town’s progress and to act as a memory jogger. For anyone who has not been able to witness the Silkmen’s progress first hand, you will be left with the feeling that you could very well have been present.

About the Author

Geoffrey Knights has supported Macclesfield Town for the past 20 years and over much of this time has kept detailed statistics and records on the club. He also contributes to the matchday programme and for the past 10 years has provided the Macclesfield Town entries for the annual publication, The PFA Footballers’ Who’s Who. Although there are no official appointments as such at the club, he is acknowledged as the club’s statistician and modern-day historian.
He was asked to write this book on behalf of the club following a successful season-long series of articles in the matchday programme entitled Looking Back, in which he profiled every player who had appeared for Macclesfield Town Football Club during their first 10 years as members of the Football League.
This is the first book Geoffrey Knights has written.
