BILL WILLIAMS was educated at Stonyhurst College and Trinity College, Cambridge. He has taught in schools and teacher-training colleges in Malaysia, Birmingham, Liverpool and Manchester. He was Director of the Manchester Studies Unit, Manchester Polytechnic 1975-80 and part-time lecturer at the Centre for Jewish Studies at the university from 1980 until retirement in 2006.
Founder of the Manchester Jewish Museum, he is now honorary president and historical adviser to the museum and an honorary fellow of the University.
