If You Know Your History: From Dixie to Roonaldo (Everton)
If You Know Your History is a remarkable pictorial record of Everton Football Club - one of the world's great football institutions.
It is no surprise that the passionate fans from Goodison Park have adopted 'If You Know Your History' as a favourite battle hymn. The song regularly rings out across the famous stadium while supporters revel in new glories while reflecting on the legendary days of the past that make the Mersey Blues so special.
This official work, published by Breedon Books, has been produced by Everton Football Club in tandem with Trinty Mirror Sport Media.
It marks another key anniversary for the Blues and reflects on a rich history stretching back 125 years. In 2002-03 Everton became the first club to celebrate 100 seasons of top-flight football, an achievement that filled everyone with pride. Now the club has reached this second important milestone.
If You Know Your History is predominantly an Everton photographic encyclopaedia - featuring over 250 pictures - most of them researched from the unmatchable archive of the Liverpool Daily Post and Echo. These fascinating images link the decades together to form a rich tapestry, from the pioneering days of St Domingo's through to Dixie Dean and onwards into the modern age of the club's recent sensation - Wayne Rooney.
The book features forewords from ambitious young manager David Moyes and True Blue owner Bill Kentwright, plus an introduction from Evertonian magazine Executive Editor Ken Rogers, who penned another Breedon classic, 100 Years of Goodison Glory.
Evertonian correspondent Claire Grey helped research and caption the pictures for If You Know Your History - a 125th anniversary offering that will stand as a definitive photographic record of all things Everton for years to come.
