Cheshire's Famous

The picturesque county of Cheshire is seen by many as a small and insignificant corner of the British Isles. Yet nothing could be further from the truth.

Cheshire’s Famous puts the record straight, documenting the achievements of famous Cestrians through the ages and up to the present day. Warriors, soldiers, adventurers, pioneers, explorers, mountaineers, businesses, politicians, entertainers, sportspeople, writers, scientists and academics: Cheshire has produced all of these in abundance and their stories are told in these pages.

Cheshire citizens have won Oscars, Baftas, Olympic gold medals and the Nobel Prize for Physics. Shakespeare, Milton, Nelson, Livingstone and Handel are connected to the county, and more recently the likes of Paula Radcliffe, Ian Botham, Freddie Starr, the Spice Girls and Take That have put the county at the forefront of modern culture.
