In 1956, Peter Washbourn joined the staff of the Lincolnshire Echo as a photographic printer. Four years later, he met Patricia Roberts and a few weeks after this meeting, started working as a photographer in the Editorial department at the Echo.
Pat, a qualified typist, changed her place of work soon after their first meeting, so they both had a new beginning,
At the start of 2000, Peter began to compile another column for the Echo, Lincolnshire in the News and in this he was aided by Pat, who helps with the copying of the stories and typing up the final version for the column.
Now, they have worked together again to produce this volume. They have lived for almost 40 years in the shadow of the Royal Air Force, their home is under the flight circuit for RAF Waddington and one of their sons is a chef in the RAF, having served at Stanbridge, Cranwell and Waddington.
