Peter Brears is both a food historian and a museum and historic house consultant, working freelance for bodies such as Historic Royal Palaces, The National Trust, English Heritage, a number of noble households and museums. He has written extensively on food history, in volumes such as The Gentlewoman's Kitchen and Traditional Food in Yorkshire. as well as making numerous contributions to the Leeds Symposium on Food History.
He has a detailed knowledge of Leeds, where his family has lived for some 200 years, and where he trained at its college of Art.
